Command Sergeant Major Ralph R. Beam joined the United States Army on June 14, 1976. He enlisted as an Infantryman and completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, S.C. followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Ga.
Command Sergeant Major Beam has completed overseas tours in Germany, Kosovo, Kuwait and Iraq. His stateside assignments have been at Fort Benning, Ga. and Fort Campbell, Ky. He has served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; Combined Joint Task Force Kuwait; Combined Joint Task Force Falcon (KFOR 4A) Kosovo; 2nd (“Dagger”) Brigade, 1st Infantry Division in Germany; United States Army Alaska; Multi- National Corps – Iraq, the United States Army V Corps; United States Army Europe and Seventh Army Command Sergeant Major and is now serving as the Command Sergeant Major of NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan (NTM-A)/Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan(CSTC-A).
Command Sergeant Major Beam’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters; Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters; the Army Commendation Medal with five oak leaf clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal with five oak leaf clusters. He has also earned the Expert Infantryman Badge; Combat Infantryman Badge; Combat Action Badge; Master Parachutists Badge with bronze service star; Drill Sergeant Badge, Path Finder Badge and the Ranger Tab.
Command Sergeant Major Beam is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas.
