Coalition forces and Afghans share a goal of improving the Afghan economy. They are striving towards this goal through an “Afghans First” initiative where Afghans make items required for the Afghan National Security Forces. While there is a manufacturing base for these products, there are many areas for improvement.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Afghans and coalition forces are working shoulder-to-shoulder to supply Afghan National Police. The job of supplying the police is becoming more efficient with the building of the Kandahar Regional Logistics Center at the Joint Regional ANP Center.

The RLC serves as a processing line for issuing equipment to deploying ANP, providing boots, uniforms, weapons holsters, t-shirts, socks and much more.

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army and coalition forces share a common goal of improving how ANA units receive equipment while the ANA and Afghan National Police share a goal of developing their relationship. Each of these groups are working to achieve this goal at the ANA’s Central Supply Depot where ANA troops receive, ship and inventory supplies required for the ANA to shoot, move and communicate.

“We’re here to get this straight,” said Gunnery Sgt. Lanny Powell, staff non-commissioned officer-in-charge of the End-Use Monitoring Division’s vehicle branch with NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan.

To get it straight, Afghans are learning about weapons accountability to prevent the Taliban from capturing these weapons.

KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan contractors, Afghan National Security Forces and NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan, coalition forces are coming together to provide logistical support for ANSF defending their country.

While there are challenges supplying all of the units, many of these hurdles can be contributed to not having enough transportation and security. However, the system is gradually progressing to support these war-fighters.

The NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan (NTM-A) and Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A)Security Assistance Office-Afghanistan (SAO-A) aims to help Afghans produce products for Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). While they have been successful in some avenues, such as the local manufacturing of boots, they struggle in other areas to find vendors who are making the product as opposed to importing the product from somewhere else.
