Kandahar, Afghanistan (July 28, 2010) – Scalded by hot liquid that burned more than 45 percent of his body, a six-year-old Afghan boy is receiving expert treatment at Kandahar Regional Military Hospital (KRMH) from Afghan National Army (ANA) and Coalition Force physicians.
Though the facility is an ANA hospital serving the 205th Hero Corps and the Afghan National Police, KRMH opens its doors to civilians whenever possible. Providing such humanitarian services is a win-win situation that assists local Afghans needing medical attention while helping ANA medical providers hone their skills by working with Coalition advisors.

“It should be a little scary to be a leader. The people you lead will become like you—you are responsible.” The 30 or so doctors and nurses in the 14 July leadership class listened intently, though it was just before tea break in the 2-hour, twice weekly lesson. Each of them, mostly Colonels and Generals, holds a position of authority in one of Kabul National Military Hospital’s 23 departments.
